851/ST4S hybrid

128rwbhp at 9.500rpm and 76.5 ft lbs peak torque, over 70 ft lbs from 6.5 to 9.5 with usable power from 3,000rpm and real arm pulling grunt from 5,500-6,000rpm all the way to the peak.
I got Chris to set the rev limiter at 10,500rpm to allow for some run on.

I now have a 888 rear sub on it's way which i won on ebay 😄
The grinder c/w cutting disc is coming out today 😯

I now have a ST4 frame which looks very similar to a 888 frame 😄
i Just have a few more brackets to fabricate to mount the 888 rear subframe and weld the 888 front subframe (Thanks Again Guy 😄 )
then it's off to the powder coaters...
Now i know Steve R says white but i fancy black or silver frame and black wheels ?
Any thoughts ?

That was the late Rob Barksfield's bike, it had a tuned ST4S motor in it kicking out around 130rwbhp.
Rob had said that he didn't want to spoil an SP, so he made his own Special, it started out as a 888 Strada.

😁 I'm at least 3 stone lighter now than in that old pic', thanks Steve ID.
Fitting a new 39th sprocket* this afternoon, it was lifting the front wheel under power in the 1st 3 gears using 15/41, I only ran the 40th for the Island as it was the smallest one I had.

*Hard anodised alloy Afam £35.

😁 Close to 45lbs lighter at the Creg mate.
...and back on the healthy food now, I need to lose about 10lbs to get back to being around the Doc's recommended weight.

In between thunderstorms i managed to get a bit done today with my little helper 😄

I now have lots of 888 bits..😄
With a front subframe, rear bip subframe and a ally slightly damaged sp subframe and all the running gear etc from the st4 and 888 corse rep body work/seat... tank etc
The parts have mostly come from members on here which has been a great help.
BUT Today i took stock and realised i'm wasting my time making a ST4/888
Mongrel and i need a 888 frame.
From what i can tell the monster swingarm and suspension linkages, shock etc
are the same ?
If this is the case then these parts are easy to come by..

So i need a 888 frame any pointers ?

(PS Deep down inside i knew this would happen 😁 )

There are two types of frame, at least, the first has mitred top tubes and the later type are bent.

Early type take the alloy 851 tank and the later the steel tank. Early frames bolt the tank at the headstock region and the later use a latch system which allows the tank to pivot.

Have you a preference to what type of frame that you acquire?

Hi mate, The later type as i have nearly all the parts to fit to that type of frame.

Yes, early Monster swingarm/linkage is the same. (non adjustable rocker type)

P.S. But only the 93'-94' Monster swingarm has the same rear hugger fitment as the 888.
