OK so I'm back in town for a few days 😝
No progress on the bike yet, but a few bits and pieces have turned up.
A pair of mint condition second-hand muffler hangers.
Brand new exhaust manifold gaskets and nuts. Need to track down some studs now.
A pair of brand new bar ends, and a mint second-hand one-way valve for the petrol tank to replace the one that has been cut and rewelded into a right angle ( pic of that back on the second page I think ).
3 brand new keys ( 2 for the SP3, 1 for the 900 SS ).
A brand new 900 SS speedo cable. These are shorter than the SP3 ones so hopefully there won't be so much flapping around in the breeze to scratch the forks.
A brand new foam gauge surround for the dashboard.
4 brand new old stock Termignoni muffler straps, and brand new correct blind rivets.
And lastly, a pair of brand new front indicators with the correct backing plates and wiring tabs to replace the shonky aftermarket units on there now.
In other news, last time I was in town I took the swing arm to a guy that makes drag car and drag bike tube chassis from scratch and other good stuff like that, and he said he can fix it no problems. So then I went to the local anodiser to see about stripping and anodising. He said no worries for stripping and re-clearing the swing arm. The fork tubes will be a bit harder. I need to get the anodising stripped off them, then get them polished as best as possible to get rid of what marks and scratches we can, then get them re-annodised again. It's also going to be a challenge to get the correct colour dye ( Ohlins gold colour ). Still, at least people haven't taken one look and slammed the door shut, so I suppose that's a bonus.
