billet brake bracket
In an email one of our members expressed an interest in making a brake caliper bracket like the one I posted a pic of on the first page of this thread. Thinking that others may be interested as well I'm posting more pics here.
It is made of three pieces, the main body, pressed in bushing socket, bronze bushing. Without CNC equip. I employed a few "tricks". First the main body was cut out of 1" 6061 plate, machined in a Bridgeport using a swivel vise or rotary table, hole bored with a boring head. Then the offset was done in a lathe, front and back. I used an expanding 5C collet but it could be done by turning a mandrel and bolting it to the mandrel. The only things that need to be precise are the hole positions, offset, and bushing clearances/length. Everything else was just eyeballed and machined from scribed lines.
