Hey Guys,

It's been awhile since I've been on here...I had to put my 92 851 project on hold since I moved to Southern California and acquired a new job at BMW. The weather is so beautiful on a daily basis here that I'm extremely anxious to get my 851 on the road to explore new riding roads up in the mountains here.

Anyway, I have a 92 851 that I picked up a few years ago, and I would like a bit more power via 888 94mm pistons and cylinders. I understand the 916 pistons have a different wrist pin location compared to 888 pistons. Would 916 pistons and cylinders work on a 851 engine, or would the piston be too far below deck height at TDC?

Also, I would like to have a second set of complete heads to switch out at closing shim adjustment time, so the down time of the bike will be less...would 916 complete heads work well on an 851 engine (with 1mm skimmed off for a bit more compression)? The valve sizes are the same, but I don't know if the cams are.

The engine is relatively stock, but I have made the following modifications:

- P8 fuel injection computer with stock 916 chip temporarily (to allow it to at least start and run).
- 50mm SP5 exhaust manifold, with 50mm carbon fiber Fast by Ferracci exhaust cans, and I replaced the end caps with Sil Moto Raymond Roche end caps with the neat little bracket attachment, and carbon fiber end cap straps, and carbon fiber exhaust hangers.
- Open airbox with K&N air filter, and aluminum air box ring.

Other non-engine modifications:
- Factory Ducati 888 solo tail/seat section.
- Aluminum rear subframe with carbon fiber under panel.
- Cast iron full floating front brake rotors.
- Floating rear brake caliper bracket assembly from a 900sp.
- Factory Ducati white 11,000 rpm redline tachometer.
- Corse 888 aluminum battery holder.
- Corse 888 aluminum upper radiator bracket.
- European Ducati left hand headlight on/off switch assembly (makes starting easier with the headlight off compared to the USA-always-on-headlight).
