BARONROJO wroteI used a 59 instead of a 5A because I found a DP S4R map for 59 and not for 5A (being this this map a closer base to my engine/exhaust than the OEM map). These were the years where they swapped from 59 to 5A and although OEM bikes where fitted with 5As, DP for these bikes where 59's. It usually happened to be the opposite for this years' bikes.
I might easily edit a custom 5A map to write my custom made map in It. The only two issues I have with this bike are: fuel light always on, I have yo change the switch in the tank AND EOBD light (yes, my bike has an EOBD light on the dash!) always on due yo the fact of having just a fan. The diagnostic tool shows there's a not working fan 😎 This can be solved with a resistor on the free connector with the 59 ECU or, un a more elegant fashion, disabling the fan error signal on the map of the 5A ECU...
Regarding the ST loom, please keep in mind than if you plan to use an ST3 or later ST4S loom, you'll need the CAN operated dash too. I think the earlier versions of ST4S combine non-CAN wiring looms with 59 ECUs. To my knowledge, ST4/ST4S electrics changed almost every year 1.6 ECU, 59 with external immo box, 5A with CAN lÃnea and MTS 1000 style Dash.
Thanks BARONROJO
My aim is to keep this as simple as possible but life is never that easy ! My preference is to avoid CANBUS but maybe thats not possible if using a 5AM ECU ?
I will see how the ST4 (MY2000) wiring loom works out and if necessary either modify it or replace with something better.
Im also trying to do this without spending too much, if the bike works out well then I could put more money into it later
Now that I have worked out uploading pictures (!) Here is a picture of where I am at currently :
