Yes tanks looke like the race tanks i have .. (Conclusion was early 93')
Outside identical to sps, but with airvent in left side..
Underside; almost like sps. but these do NOT alow Plastic strada airbox's, hence it full monthy carbo air intake
Inside : The NOS has Small pump, the race patina has large / old version... ( Why ?... only the Italien would know ... :-)

Great info guys-- these are the type of nuggets I was hoping would come the surface when I started the Corse section. After we finish this thread I will see if I can manage to transfer it to the Corse section- if I can remember how I once accomplished this.

When I had collected a few carbon tanks years back I just assumed that perhaps some Customer Racing customers received bikes with small fuel pumps. Later on after many more tanks I decided that the small pumps came on special series of bikes and Corse's always used the large pump. Now I am not so sure

I think we once talked about the SPS - Pre-series (I call beauty shots), and how they looked like the same tank but did not nail down if the side the vent was on something the factory experimented with on the race bikes like they did once before. If you look at the early '90 bikes to the slightly later '90 bikes (mid '90 there were many changes to the bikes- more like '91 bikes) you see that the factory switched the side the air vent was located on the tank. See picture.

And now we have pictures showing the pre-series Corse tank and pre-series mock up of the Customer bike. Cool how the factory mocked them up with street frames. The pictures I have seen were not close enough to make out the hemet holder and lack of gussets. Very cool-- another nugget.

i think until 996 model
998rs use a specific pump with hoses like brake hoses,with banjo nuts
i see at bursi's shop an official trottle body with complete harnes for carbon tank used from bayliss in 2001.
fuel iniector,fuel pump and every sensor on tb was made from magneti marelli and signed with mclaren mercedes logo and F1 punching
