Carbon fuel tank 888 SP4S

At the end of January 2016 will be for sale newly manufactured tanks from 888 SP4S.

I prepare now moulds and all CNC parts for tank instal to bike and connection fuel line.

Calculated price for new virgin tank without connetion hardware 900 EUR.

I founded this thread for the interests of carbon SP4S tank.

I'd love a lighter fuel tank than the steel '92 tank (which's already lighter than the earlier alloy tanks) but this's my worry...
Will these new tanks be resistant to/proofed against ethanol?

Hi Steve,

Last year I tested and find correct epoxy resin for tank. I want use certified epoxy resin for chemical
tank. This resin was tested for all type fuels.

New tanks are 99% the same dimensions as the original

original SPS tank.

In plan is option tank (incl color, all conection hardware, carbon cap ) Only wihout fuel pump.
But price for plug-and-play tank will be higher and at this time I dont know exact price.

Will there be an option for a smooth flat forward top as well as the raised vent version like on the original Corse tanks? While I am looking a gift horse in the mouth, will there be dual side fuel fittings available or just the rear location like the Strada models. i would be very interested if there was a Corse configuration option to choose from as well.

as it is an exact copy from a SP4S tank it should have the side connections,that was on the SP4S tank like that as well.
but offcourse beter to ask,to be sure.
the '94 corse tank was flat,but the '93 had that hump also.

Steve- both the '93 and the '94 Corse's had no open front. The SPS tank was a Hybrid in the shape of the new tank with the open front of the early Corse tank with hold down rubber straps. The SPS tank also uses the small diameter fuel pump. All Corse tanks I have ever owned or examined- used the large diameter pumps.

The only carbon tanks which used the small diameter pump was the SPS and a small run of earlier bikes made for a racing series in Italy (not sure where I heard this). These could have been the basis for the SP3-S which there have been a few threads on this forum.

I used an SPS tank on my first home brewed from parts Corse back in '97. I currently have one of the SP-3 tanks with the small pump temporarily mounted on my '91 Corse until I get on with painting the bodywork and original Corse tank.

There is a factory beauty shot of a '93 Corse with the SPS tank. Never seen one any delivered '93 Corse's as far as I know.

There is a difference between early 93 corsa bike with front opened tank like sps (preserie used for advertsing strada-sp5-r93) and the sps tank.
One guy here bought one of this tank in France.
Breathing tube is on the left side as all corsa bike since 91. The sps breathing tube is on the right side as the strada version.
If I'm remember well there is a slight difference under too, between the corsa and sps version.
I'll look in my photos this evening.
The r93 used the same big "closed" tank, same as on 926.

Anyway... nice project you have Jan. If I haven't my corsa project I could be interesred for my strada.

I have found who bought this special tank.
It's Stig' ;-)
I remember well when it was for sale in France.

It's a tank used on bikes of preseries.
This bike used a strada/SP5 frame and has special carbon footpegs.
