Hi Steve
Not 100% but I think this is correct:
A vehicle imported from another EU country can be re-registered in the UK as long as the make/model is part of the 'Mutual Recognition Scheme'. This means that the vehicle in question is tested and accepted as suitable for use in all EU countries.
The problem here might be the age of an 851 or 888, just a guess but I think the Mutual Recognition scheme is a recent thing and probably only covers newer models.
Have a look here for details:

Otherwise I guess you'd have to go through an SVA test to ensure you've got an MPH speedo, left dipping lights etc. I'm not sure if the German logbook would be useful or not in this case, maybe you'd end up with a Q plate? Anyone else got experience of this?
Price-wise, I've seen that frame on eBay a few times. The price seems a bit high to me but I guess you've got to balance that with the fact that frames with logbooks come up for sale VERY rarely.
I guess if I was in Germany or if it was a UK frame with a logbook I'd think it was worth it. I'm just not sure I'd pay that much with no guarantee that I could ever get it registered here.
I went through two un-registered frames before hitting gold with a rough but complete 851 for £1500. I made more than that stripping it and selling off the bits I didn't need.
Have you thought about cutting your losses and holding out for a complete bike? You could flog the parts you've already amassed and it could work out cheaper in the long run!
Regards
Darren
Imola wroteSorry another question 😄

Sorry again if i missed something 😱
