I just picked up an old racebike from the son of this man:

The original 4v motor was blown up years ago and replaced with a 2v 944 and FCR 41's. It is very rough and has 916 front/side fairings with 851 tail. It has some extremely rare calipers, magnesium wheels in need of refurbishment, and some other nice bits, but most of the bike is very rough. I will be overhauling everything. The ugly paint will go, but the father's number 33 will remain. My plan is to keep this motor until next year or until I find a cheap ST4S donor.
First step is to identify exactly what the bike is. The son thought it was an 888 and seemed to remember his father ordering it direct from Italy. That may explain the fact that the frame has no VIN stamped into the headstock. But it looks like an 851 frame. Is the subframe stock? Modified with the overflow tank? What about the aluminum fuel tank?
So what is it?
***EDIT***
With Photobucket off the rails, it looks like all the photos will have to be reposted using another site or methods. This will probably begin on page 22.
