GOT IT TODAY-
Here are some BAD pictures-- do not have great light in big garage for pictures.
It is the real deal. But terrible restoration--- Much fiberglass repair-- heavy paint on frame. But it still the bike has all of the correct factory Ti /Al. nuts and bolts with safety wire hole.
The bike has crashed. The frame has one small dent (bottom left tube by head) but I think the head is straight. The front sub frame has been straightened up.
The white paint on the frame has way way too many layers to read Frame number-- I will have to remove paint to read.
My brief walk around impression Will tear down in the coming weeks.
THE GOOD-
The frame is REAL factor TIG welded with different lugs for front sub frame, steering damper, battery box, and has an oval diagonal tube running in front of the rear shock.
The motor is REAL-- a true factory motor-- all of the stamps and paint marks as well as the stamped-in motor number.
Original rear swing arm and shock. Very interesting construction of swing arm.
Original Factory Ohlins forks, brake caliper (black), mag triple trees (not marked though), and mag wheels.
Original computer with much faded words. Polen at '90 Daytona and at Japan.
Original Wire harness with round computer plug. Gas tank uses round RCA plug.
Original front and rear sub-frames--- also molded crankcase breather box mounted in rear sub-frame.
Original seat unit with correct cutouts for rear sets. It has 002 paint marked on it. By luck I have an '89/'90 front nose I have had for years--- it also has 002 painted on it in the same style. I would say the same tech painted both. So I may now have a matched nose and seat unit. Will have to strip and paint this nose to match red shade currently on the bike.
Original aluminum Factory fuel tank with the quick spikots and the front mounting buttons- original fuel pump- a bit different then the later big Corse pumps.
Original battery box-- cross between an aluminum LR and a later Customer Racing with regulator underslung.
QUESTIONABLE-
BIG radiator-- must have wire mounts on top but now has zip tie. There is a lug on the left side of the frame for a support bracket-- could be correct. Have seen a few of these floating around-but never seen one in a period picture on a factory bike.
Side fairing panels. So much repair I cannot tell if they are original- could be since they have no catch tanks molded as found in mid '90 bikes when they moved the computer in front. The do not fit the nose correctly-- still up in the air on them.
THE UGLY-
Yes-- the rear suspension hoop and rocker are wrong-- I believe they are Strada.
The rear swing arm has been polished to death-- smoothed out the welds.
Other parts are wrong-- too much to list.
