Tomorrow I will go for a ride!
Have a nice weekend too ...π π π

Well that turned out rather nice. Enjoy the weekend ride. be sure to let us know how it goes.

Hey, that seems like a SPS tank to me π
Nice bike.

Nice bike! Is that carbon instrumentholder a Supermono part?

You are right, it was my fault ! It is an SPS Tank !

desmo57 wroteNice bike! Is that carbon instrumentholder a Supermono part?
Yeah ! The only part I donΒ΄t like very much from the 926 Racing was the racing carbon holder for the instruments. I prefer this of the supermonoΒ΄s.
I rode nearly 100 km yesterday and it was exiting. Every year the first time I feel the power of my 888 (955ccm) it seems nothing feels better than this! It took only a few km to get the kneesliders on the asphalt.π

How about electricals and ECU?
Hi Marvin,
I'm about to do the same this winter. I have the complete running 888 and the complete S4RS-Engine with injectors wiring harness etc. but no ECU or instrumentation from the S4RS. How did you solve the electrical problems? What ECU are you using? I am planning to make a mix of 888-94 and S4RS-07 when it comes to the electricals. I.e. all motor controls being S4RS and everything else (lights etc.) being 888-94. I have understood that I am looking forward to some problem solving, so I won't start until the season is over sometine in sept-oct. I have until then to gather knowledge and missing parts, all details you have on this is valuable.

Hi Henrik,
I will use a 1.6 ECU. From what I understand to use the stock S4RS ECU you also need the instrument cluster, keyswitch, etc. You could get around that if you bought an ECU from FIM in Australia and probably patch into your stock wiring harness. I made an adapter to mount the 888 TPS on the S4Rs TB's because the S4RS TPS in not compatable with the 1.6 ECU. (I have since found out that someone with computer knowlege can change things so one can use the S4RS TPS with the 1.6)( I can send you the link to a thread on speedzilla from a guy in Sweden who has done this if you want me to). Originally I was going to use my adapter and a FIM single injector chip for a 996, then go to the DucShop in Atlanta and have the fuel mixture and timing modified to suit. Since then I have bought a chip burner and am sharing a data logger with a friend and will attempt to burn my own chip (wish me luck as I know nothing about this!)
I had to move one of my frame's lower cross braces because the TPS interfered with it's placement (because of my adapter design). The TB spacing is different on the Testa engine so a stock airbox will not work. I plan on making my own airbox similar to a Corse airbox using the "Y" air runner which will dictate that my stock instrumentation won't work, will have to make a front fairing support, etc. I have made my top crossbrace removable like the Corse frame to facilitate making the airbox easier, perhaps being able to use at least part of the stock S4RS airbox and sealing the fuel tank to the frame, using the underside of the tank as the airbox top, filtertration made up along the front of the frame just behind the "Y" air runners. An 888 frame has no top crossbrace so that shouldn't be an issue for you.
I plan on using my stock wiring harness and modifiying it as much as needed. I may have to make up a Corse type harness, don't know at this point.
Hope this helps! Feel free to PM me of you have further questions.
Time has not permitted me to move along in a very timely fashion on this project, hope to do better in the near future!
Best,
Marvin

Hi Marvin,
I like your attitude when it comes to burning chips. Truly Good luck!
According to the guy I bought the engine from it should be possible to run with a Ducati Performance ECU since those are not coded to any keys when you buy them. (I have not succeeded in getting any dealer to guarantee this). If the DP ECU makes everything work it's almost to easy, if it seems to good to be truth, it probably is. I have tried to get information on FIM Ultimap and Nemesis. The FIM Ultimap homepage says they have not done it for the Testa, it seems like they have some problem with feeding the ignition. Nemesis have done it for CAN systems as on the 999 and 1098. I would prefer to have something tuneable like the Nemesis using a broad band lambda, this since airbox and exhaust will be one of a kind and also for the fun of doing things I am not sure to succeed with. So, up to now I'm a little bit out of options. The link to speedzilla would be helpful.
Pictures of the exhaust would also be helpful. According to Moto-one you need quite big diameter downpipes. This does not worry me as much as the electronics and computer stuff but avoiding already made mistakes normally saves time and money.

Hi Henrik,
I have a 45/50 Farne header and Termi cans that I am going to butcher for the exhaust using the headpipes from a 999. Using a ST4S header pipe for a start would also be a viable option IMO.
The U59 ECU from FIM was what I was referencing. Here is the link to the Speedzilla thread about chips.

Hi Henrik
Perhaps this might help regarding the ECU.

P.S. If you are using the TB's from the S4RS which are 50mm I wonder how large the exhaust has to be. By advancing the intakes to Brad's specs. and the 50mm TB's it should pull very strong in the midrange and not need to be revved all that much.
Also on Zilla if you click on TOM Tom and Old Baldy's name/avatar you can view all of their posts. I believe there are other pertinent post on the subject started by them.

ST4S Motor
I'm in the same boat, putting a ST4S motor in a 851. I wanted to keep the wiring harness original with the p8 as I will put my 851 motor back in one day. So I converted the ST4S motor into a hybrid using the parts I needed from a 996SPS, timing gears, flywheel and alternator cover. All that is left is finding a suitable chip.

Where did you find the SPS stuff Jimmy?
Dune at FIM might be able to burn one for you that is close. Brad would know.
Or drive up to Minneapolis and have Doug Lofgren do it!
Jimmy
Gotham Cycles had one they were about to break, so I had pick of the parts.
By the way Marvin, Rick is really a nice guy, thanks for turning me on to him. The reworked forks and shock are on their way back home, the bike must run by dead Elvis day.

My motor swap is a real hybrid of stuff. I started with ST4S cases and cylinders. I am using a 916 crankshaft with 996 Carrillo rods and 996 Pistal pistons. The ported heads are from a 996 so I can use all my top end magnesium bits. I have 37/31 valves, "431" intake and "G" exhaust cams.
For the injection I have re-racked a set of 998 throttle bodies and machined them to fit into the 996 intake boots. I got one of Marvin's TPS adapters and I intend to fit a 916 harness with a 16M computer.
Because of the re-positioned TBs, I can use the Sebimoto 888 carbon airbox (also because of Marvin's nifty frame adapters).
Years back I picked up a Ferracci version of the Termignoni Farne header, except it's a little bigger up front. But I can still swap between my reverse cone mufflers and my CF Termi's.
And lucky me, I live in Minneapolis, and I have been friends with Doug for years. So I am very confident I will get my bike to run just right.
Living in Minnesota has to have some perks.

Speedmade, are you going to drill you frame or make bushings for the engine bolts? I found some aluminum tubing that was just a hair over 12 mm OD and turned it down to make the bushings.

You bastard! I saw the flywheel on fleabay and emailed him about the other parts but you beat me to them!! π
Just kidding, don't really need those parts as Brad says my chip burner, etc. probably won't work for a p8 anyway.
You do have a p8 right? not a p7

Very cool Reed! Should be a killer engine!!: π
but I thought that the 998 TB's already were set up for the old style TPS??
Marvin
P.S. What perks are those for living in Minnesota besides Doug? Those mild Winters!! (I grew up 100 miles south of Minneapolis)
