Nice Kamna Racing Germany alloy flywheel and lightened timing/starter motor gears in the pic's.

Just a couple of things to note the early 851 cranks had 6 splines, later they went to 15 from (I think?) '92 onwards, 15 spline cranks were then used in the 888,900,916,916SP,748 and 916SPS's.
All of these are the same length on the 2 wire alternator side so you could fit any of them in your motor.
If you space the gearbox sprocket inboard by 5mm you can use a gearbox from a later Desmoquatro motor, apart from the sprocket placement the 748 standard clusters are the same as the close ratio ones fitted to the 851/888 SP2,3,4,5 and the SP(4)S's, but 748 clusters are a lot more common...Read here very cheap!
I bought a low mileage one last year in excellent condition for £50 and had another given to me FOC.

Clear Silicon RTV as used in bathrooms apart from the colour is exactly the same as the old Hermetite Instant Gasket bright Orange goop, that 1st appeared in the 70's.
If you don't get carried away when applying it (unlike whoever plastered your motor with it 😏), it will do the job as intended and it costs a lot less.

Will you be fitting a 120 or 300W alternator rotor (and narrower stator in the case of the 120W item) in place of the OEM 350W 851/888 boat anchor?
Will the bike still be fitted with a stater motor?

I am very interested what comes out of my old strada
I sold it to my nephew and he sold it after a short while to Hans Q.
Hans transformed it to the bike it is now.

Motor news to follow Steve, suffice to say only expect to use a few of those nice gears, heads, barrels and a clutch outer cover. Also yes the spline could easily have been 6 one, I didn't count for the tears in my red eyes. 😎
