No need to grind them off etc. Just chip of the small dap of araldite epoxy that secures the 'E' clips on to the buttons and then remove the 'E' clips with a small screw driver. Only takes a minute to do.

No need to buy new buttons as I have never seen any worn buttons to date. They were made our ot 7075 alloy and then hard anodised....they are very tuff and they can be reused without issue. We always reapply a dab of araldite when refitting the "E' Clips.

I have just done another production run of these. Currently at the anodisers getting the proprietary 2 step hard anodising & colouring finish.

Brembo Replica disc carriers for Ducati 320mm full floating cast iron discs.
Full floating cast iron discs are superior to every other type of brake disc (other than carbon fibre discs) and are used in the top race series in the world including MotoGP when rules or wet conditions prevent the use of carbon fibre discs.
The original Brembo full floating disc carriers were made from an alloy that was too soft and they were only treated with a standard anodised finish. As most customers quickly discovered the original carriers quickly wore out around the full loating buttons.
FastBikeGear carriers however are made of a much tougher alloy (7075-T6 Ergal). But the real secret to achieving a near diamond hard wear surface around the full floating buttons is our proprietary two step hard anodising/gold colouring process. While some of the other replicar carriers are reportedly also made from 7075 alloy, All other imitation products use just a standard (comparitively soft) anodising process.

These disc carriers are exact replicas of the Brembo full floating disc carriers used on Ducati high performance bikes from 1991-2002. (Brembo part Number 49240081A).

Some brake pad observations for those of us with cast iron discs.

I have just taken out a set of SBS dual carbons and they won't be going back in!

I use cast iron discs and have Ducati 999 4P/4P calipers fitted.

They work sort of OK on the street after a couple of applications to warm up but they eat cast iron discs very quickly (which they are supposed to be OK with). They seem very long lasting and gave good feed back. But worst of all the brake dust from them sticks to your wheels and everything else it lands on like shit to a blanket and forms a hard resin like layer that is VERY hard to remove. None of the usual solvents worked. The easiest way to clean everything was to strip the discs off the wheels and scrub for a couple of hours!

I have also used Ferodo Platinum pads on cast iron discs before and they worked pretty good from cold and also seemed OK on a couple of track days and the dust was easily brushed off. I would have used them again but couldn't 'find any platinum pads this time around so I am trying something new.

I have just stuck in some Ferodo CP1 pads which are supposed to be pretty friendly to cast iron discs. They have a much higher coefficient of friction than the SBS dual carbon pads. If you fell you need more breaking power these might just be the trick. So far seem relatively dust free. I need to fully bed them in and get used to them a bit more before I can report on feedback more.

Note when changing pads it's always a good idea to hone the discs to get rid of any transfer layers, etc, I normally just do this with some wet and dry sand paper on a rubber block.

That's the combination I have on my street 748/853 with BrakeTech iron rotors and a radial master, which is a lot of stopping power to put onto a street front tire. I love the CP1 pads on my race bike, but would kind of prefer the Platinum compound on the street.

I wasn't going to make any more carriers for the cast iron rotors, but one of the forum members has insisted to the point of sending me some money even though I hadn't confirmed I was doing any more. I think with the previous production run I had pretty much fulfilled demand but now I am kind of trapped to do at least one more set. So I will do a couple of extra sets at the same time if anyone wants them.

I had occasion as per my post above to strip the discs off the carriers yesterday, which was a good opportunity to inspect them for wear around the buttons. I am pretty pleased to report that (after 10,000 km on these carriers) there is no measurable wear on the carriers. The bike has now done 73,000 km and I am still using the original buttons.

You can also get Galfer green pads for the 4 pad Brembo calipers. They are also an organic compound pad which work very well with iron rotors and are not a racing pad like the CP1.

Just a quick update. Sorry for the long delay in doing another run of the replica carriers. Part of the problem was that I was finding it difficult to source the 7075-T6 alloy billet we use for these in a suitable size and the machinist who was doing the rough out for us before the CNC machining got quite ill. However I managed to get some more billet and...

Our CNC shop has just finished machining another batch of Brembo replica carriers. Once I have checked these they will be off to the anodisers to get hard anodised and then off to get the final gold missile coating process. So I should have a few spare sets available in 2-3 weeks from today.

Bill I have now racked up 1000's of kms on both the Ferodo Platimum and the Ferodo CP1 pads on the same rotors, enough miles to have gained some good experience with both.

The CP1's work much better on the track....and also the road...which was a bit of a surpise. The CP1 pads have proven even kinder to the rotors than the Platinum pads and the CP1 pads seem to work just as well when cold (which I didn't expect I would find the case). Definitely won't bother with the Platinum pads again as I can see no downsides to the CP1 pads and the braking feel is just on another level from the Platinum pads.

Thanks, I took Foggy's suggestion and got some Galfer G1054 organic street compound pads last year and they're good.

I have just completed another batch of replic Brembo full floating brake carriers. I said I was never going to do any more but we had some 7075-T6 and received a couple of orders so we used up the last of the billet and did a few extra.

These are hard anodised and made from 7075-T6 alloy so much tougher and longer lasting than the soft originals which are no longer available from Brembo. There are plenty of good reviews on us and these carriers in this forum if you need to check out the quality of what we do.

The price on these is $345 New Zealand dollars each.
