My MK1 SL #110

Bought this back in August, Early MK1 , needed a full strip down to clean and paint properly !
Its a local bike (to me) and has only covered 7.5k miles, 3 previous owners (1 real one and 2 local idiots who maintenance / restoration was painting the bolts funny colours LOL)
Should be finished by March 2013.

Period mods found during strip down were

Baines Racing Twin oil coolers
Full Skorpion (Akrapovic) Race system (Top end version)
Lightened fly wheel
Arias high comp pistons.

Simons Mods
Dyna mini coils with Taylor HT leads
Keihin FCR's
Uprated battery/earth leads.

Should be a bit of fun when finished

I'm afraid the original marvics were replaced with original 92 Brembos a long time ago

nice bike,nice modifications as well.
not al the MK1 superlights has the marvic wheels,like the ones for germany where not whit marvic wheels if i'm right.
i think it has something to do whit the TUV,who not approved them.

Hi Simon,

Phil and I would like to see pic's of the "Spaghetti" exhaust system, I suspect that Phil thinks that it isn't a Skorpion/Akropovic type.
There were several different companies making these type of headers back then.

Hi Steve / Phil
After a lot of twaddle and guesses by people (on another forum) who didn't really know what is was an ex German racer correctly identified it (he still has one on his bike which he bought new 18 years ago)and then this was backed up by another, I then found some photos which confirmed this.

Those are defenetly the Scorpion/Acrapovic i have a set for my 888 that looks just like it only with the correct for 888 manifold.

Could i have a few pics of the coolers you have on, mounting points, cooler type, possibly a link to the kit ?

Oil Coolers

The Twin Oil coolers are both Setrab , the kit was sold by Baines Racing , not too sure if they still make it but maybe contact them ?

It will be a lot better when I've finished with it 😄 hopefully I will get the motor back together by Mid Jan then it should start to come together fairly quickly , just busy cleaning everything at the mo , this afternoon has been the rear brake calipers turn !

+1 on that, it's the same (apart from the manifolds) as some early 851/888 Skorpion/Acropovic systems I've seen.

Thanks , I think I was quite lucky to get the bike with this system on it and some of the other period goodies, I'm going to try and track down the original owner to try and find out a bit more.

I would like an extra one for mine as it can get hot around the rear cylinder.

I have a set of the original Marvic / Acront wheels for the MK I if you are interested.
I won't lie, they are not cheap 😁

Correct Mr.R, but I've got the answer now !!!
I wanted to compare with my SS and its Silmotor manifold ...

I wonder the interest to have a couple of oil radiators with the same engine oil quantity, in respect of the workshop guidances. The engine may run too cool and this parameter is important on aircoolled engines !!!

I think that Baines racing know a thing or two about cooling 2v's this is their oil cooler kit on mine, I doubt if this motor would ever run to cool.

I believe the std paso ? ran a similar set up from factory.

You are not the first who thought my system might be Silmotor ( in fact up until 2 weeks ago I thought it was and then was corrected )
