Mr Bumble wroteAre you building an SP5 / Corse style 'want to be' bike?
No I'm just doing what I've done for the last 40 years, building the lightest and most powerful/usable bikes I can, (myself) but this time using my '92 851 as a base model.
...and as usual I'm building it on a "Shoestring" budget.*
I've long past SP(4)S, SP5 performance or even 926cc converted examples of these models.
Even though I'm using a lower (under 10,000 rpm) rev ceiling and less (than the 926cc bikes) capacity.
It's my hobby and ongoing project, I could never afford a Corse and wouldn't want a SP(4)S or SP5...
People who own this sort of "Exotica" are generally too afraid to use them IME.
But I don't mind hammering the tits out of my self built bikes, if they break I rebuild them which (for me) is a big part of the fun.
I like building bikes in my shed that can kick the arse of the "Special" bikes the rich(er) boys can buy.
*Apart from the paintwork, (that I pay for by doing work in kind) Mapping and dynamic balancing,
I do all of the work myself, on the rolling chassis, motors and electrics.
