Honda V4"s certainly played there part in racing in the late 80"s and 90"s WSB, Endurance, IOM, you name it they did it, The RC30 was the privateers weapon of choice.

The RC30 was 100% made by HRC, no 'styling' involved.
The RC45 et al went through the 'styling' department to their detriment.
I think that's a deciding factor, which makes it the only Japanese 'icon' that looks (and works) right for me.

Sorry guys , RC30's are mint , having ridden a few , being in standard road trim and race kitted in many years gone by . However , the RC45 was a donkey ,like the SP1. Having owned an SP1 and done many track days on it. The only similarity to the one that won WSB years ago and the standard bike I had is the name. It was like riding the Forth Bridge. My mates whom were on 916 's and 996's absolutely blitzed me out of the corners but if the straight was long enough I may just catch them absolutely ringing its neck. In my view an 851 or 888SP is a far more desirable , cooler piece of kit. There's no comparison gentlemen.

As I've said often before I'd love an RC30 and I'd actually consider killing for a TZ750...
But I'm more than happy with my '92 851/916cc "Old Nail", it's a real hoot to ride with power coming in from very low revs, it pulls like a freight train from 3,000 rpm through to 9,300 rpm without any steps or holes/dips in the power band.
It's hard for me to imagine what it'll be like with the big bore 955cc (and possibly stroked to 984cc) motor fitted.
135+ rwbhp and under 400 lbs fully wet with all the lights, starter motor still fitted...

oh Terry ! I wasn't thinking about race bikes- that's a completely different kettle of fishes. TZs, NSRs definitely RG500s and plenty more- gorgeous
