Today I stripped and cleaned the right hand brake calliper - both pistons in the outer half of the right hand caliper were seized - then reassembled both callipers ready to go back on when new pads and brake lines arrive.
Then I turned the bike around to take off the right hand muffler. Oh dear. Couldn't even get the allen key into the bolt heads holding the hanger bracket to the frame - where the allen key goes is bashed in and knackered. I eventually got both bolts off, and they'll be going in the bin with the rest!! Anyway the reason the right muffler was sitting on the piss is because 1/ the bracket is all bent out of shape in 2 planes ( vertically and laterally ) from when it was crashed on that side, and 2/ the rear tab that the bracket bolts to the rear subframe with is broken off, and the broken off piece was just sitting in there to allow the bolt and nut to sit somewhat square. So another item for the bin - I think I need to buy a bigger bin!!!
Then I took the bracket off the muffler, and that bracket ( the one that bolts to the muffler with 2 bolts and then hanger bolts to it with 1 bolt ) is all bent and beaten up too. Wonder where I can get a pair of those from??
Anyway it just keeps getting worse. When the bike was crashed it has pushed the muffler and pipe in towards the bike, so there is a nice big dent in the mid-pipe when it has hit the nut holding the shock link to the swing arm, and there are 2 decently deep scratches on the inside of the muffler , which some bright spark has tried to sand smooth with coarse sandpaper of a file, and scratched the hell out of the anodising and ruined it.
The mid-pipe is displaying road rash, as is the end of the header pipe.
