I especially like putting Ti chips in large aerial mortars (fireworks) and how the spreading tails look so nice!

My wife has banned me from making fireworks any more since that incident with the ... cat.

I wasn't keen to play after the law and their canine assistants taught me new skills in running with gusto and great distances though the bush and the burbs of Koonung creek. As a young lad I took heed, and decided I'd be better off playing for real. Just as much running, but none of the savage dog issues.😁

That is the correct stuff for magnesium. The zinc chromate is what you want to protect the magnesium. It is toxic, which is why they also offer this oxide version of the paint:

The zinc chromate protects the magnesium, but also causes cancer, and space shuttle booster rockets to fail:
