When I first saw the Bimota V 500 I fell in love, that's what I really wanted, shame it all went a bit wobbly at the time. 😡

If I where to buy one it definately would not get used, due to its driveability as quoted above. However with the other bits that I own but rarely turn a wheel on, at least they can run!! 😁 😁

Its got an FZR 400 engine in it Brad, raced a FZR 400 RR SP (then it magically became a 600 - but thats a diff story!!) years ago and it was was an absolute scream to ride - rev'd its nuts off and handled like a dream - so I'm sure the Bimota is even better!

The Ohlins forks on my bike org came from a YB8 Furano (only 150 made), prob worth more to Bimota owners than 888 (if thats possible).

According to the bible the YB7 has the 400cc motor, 321 were built between 1988~1989, not alot is said about them but my guess is they were a 400cc version of the YB4 for the Japanese market.

I had a YB7 that I bought from BAT motorcycles and shipped to the US, it was a scream to ride...brilliant little machine

i could never work out why they followed the yb4 with it's alloy beam frame with the yb5 that had the tube frame with massive work around the steering head. two totally different ideas. the yb5 must have been in development for a while and was finally released as a bit of an after thought. i rode one years ago and was amazed at how fast the speedo was going up without any real sensation of it.

the yb6 was the first 1000 engined bike, it was followed by the tuartara i think, which had a fuel injected version of the pre exup motor. the yb8 had the exup motor.

yb9 was the outrageously expensive fzr600 engined one. the yb10 the early 90s fzr or yzf motor and the yb11 the thunderace motor. 10 and 11 were dual seat from memory, because the sb6 was the top level one at that point.

we were the bimota importer for a year or so in 1995, then someone in perth took it over. we only got sb6 mainly, plus one mantra and one supermono for homologation. later we were dealer for the new importer and sold a yb11 and a 500 due. the 500 due guy ended up with a refund and got a sb8, but we never saw that one.

Yea the YB7 has a FZR400 motor init. This one is very trick. Set the motor up with a falicon knife edged crank,carillo ti rod, flatside kehiens, and under cut tranny. It's a sweet little machine. Probably one of my favorite bikes to ride of all time because you actually sit in it rather than on...kind of a perfect fit bike for both big and small riders. cooooool😎

The YB7 is the made for japan only model. It has the Yamaha FZR400 engine in it. A few of them were run in Japan's F3 racing class.

Insane grouping of Bimota's Boccarp.

I had two DB1's (1985 std DB1, 1990 DB1SR "Serie Finale" #1 of 7).

I found this SB3 kit still in the Bimota bubble wrap along with a new GS1000 donor bike in San Fran. Got the pair for $8k and built the bike.
http://tinyurl.com/2d4t9fw I liked bike.....but it took me 3 yrs to figure out that I didn't care for 4 cyl Japanese motors. No "flavor". So off it went to the Canadian Motorcycle museum.

Once the SB3 was gone I knew the next Bimota I'd have would be a DB2 as I really like the 900 2V Duck motor and what can be done with it as I have a well sorted M900 Duck.

we had a sb4 in years ago for some reason that i had to ride. allegedly with a yoshi kit, etc. really let me down, much like a vfr1000r. can't see what anyone liked about them, but then again this was 10 or more years after their day and stuff came a whole long way in the late 80's.

the sb3 isn't as wacky looking as the sb2. the 2 is quite bizarre in places.
