I just got back from the NAPA store. I ordered a fuel pump from an early '90s Mustang, and the story about it not being available separately, but only in an assembly and the price of $139 matched up with the folklore that it would work. When I looked at it today, the parts guy and I just shook our heads in unison - its MUCH smaller diameter.
Looking through a fuel pump catalog, there were no listings for Weber in the cross reference, but looking at pictures there was a listing for a '91-'92 Alfa 164 3.0L that looks very much the same, down to the ribs on the side and the seam at the bottom, it just has a threaded fitting for the output instead of a barb.
The Weber pump in my hand is part #PI-022. If anyone on this board in a country that has Alfa parts resources can verify that pump is what Alfa used, we'd have something. The NAPA part# for the Alfa pump is P72184 and is around $250.
😳
Did you use the NAPA part number that I gave you? I put one of that number in Bill's SPO and it fit perfectly. Or, perhaps your 90' has a different pump than my 92' and the SPO.?? Or, NAPA has changed to a different pump in the last few months??
P.S.
The pump that my 92’ has and every SPO that I’ve worked on has a walbro pump. It is 36.65mm in diameter. Total length is about 94mm excluding the plastic connector insert that houses the terminals. The opposite end drops down to about 25mm . that smaller diameter end is approx 23mm long. It fit perfectly into the stock rubber surround that fits into the tank.
