Claire4dukes wroteI have spare set of semi gloss anodised black aluminium tubes ΓΈ100mm x 2mm wall x 400mm long, we replaced the carbon sleeves when they blew out (fatigue) on the SilMotos. We made two sets so have one spare. The weight difference is negligible and they wont fade over time. Drop us a pm if you are interested.
Now I might be wrong here?
But I've always thought that alloy parts that have been anodised Black and are then subjected to heat, will fade down to a 'Charcoal Grey' colour fairly quickly.
It was for this reason that I didn't anodise the outer covers on my 900SS Bevel special, or the sleaves on the cans I originally made for my 851*.
In fact I've got a few Black anodised parts on my 851/916, over the last few years they've faded to Charcoal Grey and they haven't been anywhere near the exhaust system, I think a lot depends on the quality of the alloy being anodised though.
Still it could be worse Red fades to Pink and Blue to Silver, a fact borne out by the red and blue Earls alloy fittings on the external oil system on my 900 Bevel.
Only last Sunday I saw an old FZR 1000 Genesis EXUP with the most awful pink can on it, I was looking for a sickbag whilst my little daughters who're both 'Pink Freaks' thought it looked wonderfull. π
I eventually went for silver as the worse that it could do was fade to grey.
