This bike was originally for sale by auction with Car & Classic and later by post-auction offer, but didn’t meet its reserve. It was subsequently listed on Ebay, as you know.
I eventually managed to speak to the long term owner who seemed genuine, but was anxious to sell and was including a number of spares and related items.
I did not view the bike, but it looked to be presentable in the images provided for both sets of sales information.
Pro Twins may be able to help, and Ducati Support - contact_us@ducati.com - might be able to help with bike verification, once you have evidence that you own the bike.
There are people on this forum who know the sequences for the VIN/Frame and Engine numbers for the SP5 series of bikes, and they may be able to give a general indication on the numbers on your bike. However, I believe only a registered Ducati dealer or DMH Italy can provide an authoritative statement on the origins of a given bike, assuming the historic information is complete and still available at the factory, and proof of ownership is provided.
Regarding my own recent enquiries to DMH, they have told me that they are currently transferring the historical records into digital format, and this has led to problems and delay in discovering bike details, which in some cases may no longer be available. However, the outcome will likely need to be determined on a bike case by case basis.
