Steering Lock Nut/bolts

So wintering the the bike and noticed the steering the lock bolts were loose. On one side the lock nut was missing. On the other the bolt sheared as soon as I went to tighten the lock nut. So I am looking for OEM parts 10/11 (x2) which I thinks are:

2 x Bolt (4MM Hex) - Part # 27850031A
2 x Nut (13MM) - Part # 41790304A

Will add accurate sizes when I dig out my digitalmeasurythingymajig!

Looking for OEM as I am a bit OCD but appreciate this is a really trivial search! :joy:

Kev, I am fairly certain the bolt is M8×25 which is the same that is used on the early carby 900ss. I bought a set from Stein Dinse. However, note that they will not have the yellow chromate color like original. I had to send them off to get plated.

BTW, not trivial at all! Keeping our old bikes as original/OEM as possible is what makes them special! I am extremely OCD about this kind of stuff. I have gone through great lengths and expense to find NOS or original parts for my SP2.

Thanks for the pointer - Stein Dinse have come up trumps in the past so will take a look. As well as keeping the bike as close to OEM as possible I also really enjoy the search for parts and occasionally spot something I never knew I needed! TBH, I don’t always fit the bits but I keep them for the time I put the bike back completely to original. I even have the original parts that have been replaced (e.g. fuel pump, brake hoses, reservoirs, etc.)… How sad is that! 🙂 Happy New Year! Kev.

Oh boy, we can trade stories about being OCD. I also keep everything I replaced! Its funny, I just replaced the straight wheel valve stems on my Superlight with 90 degree ones for convenience, and yup I saved the originals! Its a sickness!
