I’ve tried to edit some of my posts to include more information, but the forum tells me I’m not allowed to do this?

Hi Steve - exactly as G said, once a post has been replied to, it can no longer be directly edited. However - it is a configurable thing -the behaviour can be set like that, or to allow editing for ten minutes only, or for editing to be available indefinitely.

If there’s a strong feeling to have it set in a particular way, then I don’t have a problem with it

I think that once someone has read a post, it cannot be edited anymore.

@mike may be able to confirm this.

I would favour indefinite editing with the date/time of the editing shown on the post.

I’m a state school educated lad who left school at 15 officially, I’d actually stopped attending long before my 15th birthday. After posting I often see mistakes I’ve made or think of things that I should have posted.

For years the only things I wrote were cheques for motorcycle spares.

Actually - are you sure Steve? - I just posted this morning, then edited the post to add pictures, and I can see an “Edited” flag - see here..

So some feedback here.

After starting and testing this helicoil fix, the leak was still there. I looked into it again and found a hairline crack in the water pump cover, along the threaded hole. Long story short, the cover is shot.

I remplaced it by the NOS one, new (metal) gasket, new screw, new crush washer and all is fine now.

To celebrate the end of this annoying episode, I went for a nice ride! 😎

I recently was able to get a very interesting « portfolio » book on the 851/888. It’s basically the gathering of 25 period English speaking press articles.

This confirmed how much I prefer the 1989-1992 851 design over the rest (early 851 and 888). Plain shiny liquid red with the white frame, wheels and Cagiva scripts

Having read elsewhere that the yellow Agip stickers where not necessarily a factory thing on SPs and where added by dealers during bike prep, I decided to get rid of them on my SP2. As a matter of fact, I just don’t like this yellow stain on a perfectly red bike. I find Ohlins forks are just « yellow » enough.

Well, I absolutely love the result. Bike looks much more faster now! 😁 Here it is ready for next week end road trip.

The sticker packs were offered as a dealer option for the SP4. Some customers fitted them, some didn’t. I was in two minds with mine, but eventually fitted the fairing stickers (‘1’ and the Agip). Did similar on the 916SP3, although the stickers were not a dealer option on that bike. I like the look, it breaks up a bit of the red and highlights the the rear suspension setup.
