Hi,
I'm currently putting an S4RS engine in a 94 Strada. The bike will look quite original when the plastic has been put on. The intention is not to create show-room finish, I just want to be able to keep up with my son on his R1. Here are some pictures of the bike with engine and semi-finished exhasts, the bike to beat and the finished downpipes. Hopefully everything will be finalised before the spring.
Most cumbersome up to now has been making the downpipes. Maybe I will reconsider this after making the motor run, but right now I am optimistic.

Looks great! I am doing a similar conversion to my 92' I had hoped to finish it this Winter but that didn't work out.
What are you using for throttle bodies, air box, ECU and wiring?
Will the left fairing clear the exhaust?
hauge
Nice!
Meet you on the track days in sweden with my 1026! 😄
Cheers

ps. talk to tomtom about cpu.
Henrik
Throttle bodies are from S4RS, air box is not finished I think I will modify the 888-box to fit, ECU is M172 which still thinks it is an inline-4 so there is some parameter setting and mapping to do, wiring is 0,75 mm2 for everything exept 12V and power ground which is 1,5 mm2. The exhaust is so close to the engine that it is not possible to go closer, if the fairing does not fit I will cut it.
And to be honest, I really don't know if I will finish this winter either, but I have decided to stay optimistic.

Henrik,
Sounds great! I too am using the S4RS TB's, will make an airbox from scratch, probably formed aluminum. I have an X air duct so will have to seal the tank to the frame and do it like a corse system, make new front subframe to hold the headlight (street bike). I have the head pipes from a 999 and a spaghetti header from a 1000DS Monster so will be following your lead on the exhaust (mate to 50mm Termi cans). I am hoping that I don't have to cut the left fairing.
In an earlier "projects" thread here I posted pics of the TPS adapter that I made for the S4RS TB's so I could use a 1.6 ECU with old style TPS. Since then I saw on SpeedZilla that Tom Tom simply changes the map so he could use the new style TPS! He seems really intelligent about such things!!! I was going to suggest that you contact him but I see now that you already know him! 😁
Keep me posted about your progress please.

Cool project!
ECU is M172
What brand is it?

It is from Competition Systems. It is similar to Nemesis but not so specific for a certain use, it's more suited for anything that uses petrol. When I bought it they only had Nemesis 1 which requires CAN-bus, but they have recently released Nemesis 2 which should fit on S4RS . Maybee that is an easier solution? Anyway, both Patrik at Biscaya (who I bought it from) and Mick at Competition systems are very helpful, so even me being a novice on computer stuff might get the pieces togther.

A little bit further
Hi,
Today was good. I have received maps and configuration files so the ECU now know it's a Ducati. I'm getting signals from all sensors and the values seems reasonable even if I know it's warmer than 12 celcius in my garage which is what the ECU currently belief. Those are minor issues and easy to adjust. Unfortunately I have not been wise enough to have hoses for fuel and cooling water enough to fire the engine up, I had really hoped for that this week end.
For the dash I have choosen to take an other route than the guys having the dash diskussion in the technical forum. The rev counter is from a Guzzi, The 8k read line helpes the bike look slow. I dont want the bike to look faster than I can live up to.

Love it, of course all slow bikes have a switch to change maps!

of course😁

Shitty day
Plan was to get the engine running. All I got so far is backfire and it still needs the starter to run..
Wish me better luck for tomorrow..

I´ll have a drink and toast for the engine god. I´ll run fine tomorow...😄

Fault finding
Thanks Thomas,
One drink for the success was helping a bit, (you should have taken two, at least) I'm on track but have not solved the problem. It seems that something is wrong with the SMOT-sensor, I'm getting a lot of fault readings from the pickup. It's like it's firing off the spark whenever it likes. I have to consult the experts the coming week, most likely I did something wrong. Now it's just to find out what. Maybee this is the joy of doing things you don't know?

Are the pick up leads plugged in the right way. I did that once and got basically rubbish firing. It sort of sounded like it would start while using the starter motor.

Precisely,
I mailed an amateur description of the fault to Mick at Competition systems this morning and got answer back with a photo showing the right way to connect it within 20 minutes. Problem was that I had followed the manual without checking what was the positive edge. (One fault in 72 pages of manual). Now when I know the problem I am optimistic to solve it. Hopefully I will find some time after work this week. I'll let you know how it goes.

Happiness!
Just came home from work and swapped the two misconnected cables. It started at once and filled the village with an incredible noice! (The home made spagettis are loud without the mufflers on!)
I know, for most of you it's not much to write about, it's an engine, it's supposed to start etc. but for me it's a majour break through.
I'm so happy

Hey, it´s an aftermarket ECU few know about.
Congrats, you have right to be proud!😎

Great job Henrik! The fiddling, rebuilding, and part swapping is all just foreplay... But the climax only comes with the turn of the key and the firing of the engine. I have found after a rebuild when the bike starts it can be just as satisfying (and a relief) as riding.
