Not sure where to go with this rant in the making.

First up I have worked in development and sustainability and renewable energy all my life...Yes ages OK. I work all week saving the planet then burn and pour valuable oil based liquids down the carb/injectors all weekend to make up.

But this weekend has really brought ethanol tears to my eyes. Don't get me wrong its great stuff in the right place, I spent months years ago working on fruit waste ethanol powered agricultural pumps in Africa years ago with great results as LOTS and LOTS of fruit was going to waste.

Today its different, the politicians? or the industrial leaders? say its fine to rape and pillage and turn good food growing land into multimillion pound "fuel" growing areas....

And what do we get😯

A UK 10% ethanol blend that eats our vehicles alive😎

Very depressing..So I pick up a the cafe racer GRP tanked toy and play and fiddle and get her running. New tank never used. Get distracted for a few weeks and Friday think yes I will just finish a couple of jobs and get a MOT and try her out.

But no..she will not fire, I lift the plugs, kinda black but sparking fine.

I drain the carbs and some soupy shitty stuff drips out ( these are carbs that I spend hours cleaning and rebuilding) and wonder what is that??

Then with the dust cover off the newly sprayed tank I think OH NO its blistered have I got dot 4 on her?

Nope the the bloody ethanol that I like to drink eating my bike alive, even the rubber base seal on the float chamber

And I heard that its eating our beloved floats as well and yes I confirm my floats are "sticky"

So...

I spent all yesterday cleaning the tank and filling it with new gloop, today as well glooping away

And yes I spent hours stripping the carbs and cleaning once more, its so sticky it even makes the needles tight!

Anyway as you will find this diatribe is a bit of a bloomin moan

Why did nobody warn us ?

I tried this, nice Guy very helpful on the fone and sold me degreaser (smells like Helens nail varnish remover) and a tub of red stuff.

Finish looks good so lets see if I have saved my f******* fuel tank
