888 SP5 undertray and rear set

hi everyone, I just joined the forum, thanks for accepting me
I am an 888 sp5 owner since few days ago, she will join in the garage the younger sister - the 916 senna - in few weeks. At present the 888 is in Borgo Panigale in Ducati Factory Service (I live 30 km from there) for a tech check and maintenance.
As I'd like to restore her to original state, I'd need an original undertray and rear set. Not easy to find them, it seems to me.
Any suggestion where I can check?

Welcome to the forum. What you ask for is almost impossible to find in un-cut condition. A lot of people would also like to have a perfect mudguard , uncut............however a lot of parts were cut down to give a more modern look and that is the reason why it is so difficult and expensive to find this part. I have a cut version that is approx 6 cm shorter that I might sell.

Creating new 888 Undertrays

All - My undertray on the 888 was damaged, but I am exploring getting my repaired one 3D scanned and re-manufactured. Obviously, once I get the quotes, it may make more sense to get a few done to spread the costs and provide new undertrays for the people who want a more standard look.

Let me know if you would be up for exploring this.

Yup it is a real bitsa bike that one day I will get around to restoring. The frame is a kit frame , engine is 955cc , wheels are Marchesini Magnesium. It has Ohlins rear + race linkage , double injection , P8. It only owes me 4000 euros so not a bad deal.

I have been looking and unable to find any aftermarket ones. I did an extensive search and found an original one that was for sale a short whole ago and sold for $300. As much as I like the idea of carbon fibre, it would have to be painted in satin black for me, as that part really should be plain plastic, if you want to keep the original looks.

I am about to receive a quote for the 3D scan and if people want to contribute (once I know the cost), we can get the CAD file uploaded for the benefit of the community. Then you can find your preferred local manufacturer.

Yes my last one with Indicators but in almost new condition cost me 350 Euros (SP4/5 version)

yes, it's a good deal, you do not have a P8 to sell ?

Well, I would love to find one for a 1988 Strada....but that would happen about as much as a date with Liz Hurley.... although I would take either if offered. 😎

Occasionally there is one listed through Japanese Ebay or a mob here called Monsterimports. They list a fair bit of 851 888 stuff. Hope this helps.
