Magnetic base dail gauge holder and a steel plate with holes in it mounted where the tappet cover sits
Mr.R
I use the genuine Ducati Desmoquatro special tool/bracket to hold the dial gauge, also using the special forked Ducati feet for the dial gauge.
The Ducati part bolts to the heads via the valve cover 6mm holes, it's very neat and easy to use IME.
IIRC? I got my genuine part from Ducati Kamna in Germany many years ago, I don't remember being that shocked by the price back then.

The last pic, has that guy been watching too much Ironman.
The beauty of the mag base is you can do end floats and runout on crank and gearboxes. On a flat bed you can check how badly you just hand ground a shim. Stick on a lathe and measure runout. Stick on a beam and tape a torch on. Stick it on a paddock stand and measure disc runout. Handier than a 13mm spanner almost.
Man for $40 how can you go wrong.
