fabSP4 hi all anybody can tell me if all 888 wheels are compatible ? I need i have a set of Marchesini wheels bought to a member here but wondering if they can fit on a standard 888 ? I have a 40 sprocket but not sure the SP wheel can fit standard 888 thxs
Foggy 888 All Marchesini/888 street wheels are compatible with regular and SP versions of 888. It is only when you get Marchesini Corsa wheels for a racebike that you will find that they don't fit on a streetbike. The easy way to tell if they are Corsa or street wheels: The front street wheel will have a 64mm hub for the 64mm hole in the front brake rotor. A Corsa race wheel will have an 80mm hub/hole. The rear street will will have 5 bolts that hold the rear brake rotor to the wheel. A Corsa race wheel will only have 3 bolts. The rear axle diameters are different on the street and Corsa wheels as well. The front wheel brake diameter does not apply to early Tricolore version 851, as they have the larger 80mm hub on the front wheel.
Mr.R The rear disc rotors are 6 bolt fixing on the OEM road wheels, do the road Marchesini wheels mount a different disc? Steve R
Ducal Surely the member you bought the rims from can clarify fitment. Definitely Race has 3 rear disc bolt holes and the front rim has a larger bolt thread radius. That said I have an early mag race rear and the cush drive holes have a different centre measurement. Maybe put images on the forum ???

fabSP4 Thxs for the feedbacks 5 spoke magnesium ones and yes ,could have asked the seller directly , you r right Was wondering if the axle is the same on roads bike between the Ohlins of the SP4 , the Showa of the SP5 and the standard 888 ones
dudlington 20mm diameter...............but the spacing for your Road Marchesini wheel might be different. It will depend if you have a 6 inch rim or a more standard 5.5 inch rim. Also I have seen different sprocket carriers so it will depend on what year those wheels were made as you also need to keep the chain in line and stop the chain from rubbing on the edge of the tyre. A 6 inch will fit but it gets close to a few things and it needs to be perfectly in the center. Photos would help the forum a lot and some more information.
Jasper Road wheels mate. As Dudlington and I have found out, there are vast differences in hubs, spacers and carriers. I have swapped my 3 spoke ex-Carl Fogarty race wheels for 5 spoke race. The front discs are different and won't fit the hub width is different the hub diameter is different the rear wheel brake disc is different the sprocket carrier and sprocket mounting are different. The rear brake carrier brackets and spacers are different So not just a quick swap!!
fabSP4 agreed , my magnesium are for road use , so it should be easier to fit on a 888 Std and the Corsa ones now , i try to learn if the Front and Rear Axle diameter are the same between a SP model and a Strada ones . Front and rear disc , OK but remains the question of the Axles diameter Thxs
stiglarsenDK Note ; earlier front wheels has 17mm, later 20mm Axels . You use all wheels from strada/SP with a matching Axel, Nut and spedo drive set. ( rear side is 17mm on all years)
