Before you weld anything on make sure you can get the correct OD of the tube and the correct wall thickness. When I modified my cans I could only get within 0.5mm of tube size but the wall thickness was thicker. It was then harder to fit them in the headers. Also the 0.5mm difference can be seen with a good eye and took a lot of work to blend in. The second set I did I left deliberately a weld where I welded on the extra piece so that you cannot see the differences. Ducati clearly had a special size made up that is almost impossible for ordinary people to buy in small quantities.
Hi mate thanks for the advice,
I measured it all up a few weeks ago and got the exact size needed on ebay, If I mind correct it was 52mm OD with a wall thickness of 1.2mm( think the inner size on headers that the pipe has to go over is 49.5mm and the new stub is 49.6mm ID so ive been fairly lucky), I tried it into the headers and it goes all the way home, Its a little tight to slide in and out easy so before I go to weld it im going to stick the 2 stubs in the lathe and give it a wee sandpaper just so when welded to silencers I have no issues fitting them,
Like you say I will defo leave the weld alone, Like you said if I buff it up the silencer and stub will look odd,
Cheers Jack
