MrBenn There I was surfing the internet looking at either modifying an S4 frame or selling it and buying an 888 frame to build from when I discovered something else. Chances are its been seen on this group but its quite an interesting idea. https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/bikes/ducati-851-bodywork-panigale-good/
MrBenn It some very clever photoshoppery apparently - Great idea though. Its a Raymond Roche 851 with an 1100 superleggera hybrid. Its my new laptop destop too. RWG wroteI absolutley love this, What a Great convert, Where is this UK? Great post
dudlington Having a Panigale and a few 888,s I looked into this concept of placing the bodywork of a Panigale onto an 888 after seeing this Photshop photo. There are a number of challenges , first one is the rear horizontal shock on the Left Hand side which is wider than the rear seat unit, note the photo is showing the easier RH side where there is space. You would need to create a bulge in the rear fairing unit..........no big shakes but would not look symetrical. The next one is the exhaust , and the heat that comes from it. My rear exhaust guard on the Panigale is already melting (I,m on my second one) so I think if you encase that rear section in bodywork and trap the air further than now you would need to protect the bodywork from this heat. I think at least the paint would melt and probably the panel at some point as well. I like the concept of old looks and new machinery and have not given up hope. After the summer I will strip off the bodywork off the Panigale and look what is possible. I will not however modifiy the frame of the Panigale , I am not that crazy. There are already companies making rear Alluminium frames for Panigales that go racing and want to save weight , that side of things can be done. I will try and give my opinion a little later in the year..............but yes WHAT A BIKE IT WOULD BE. The best of both worlds.
