Front cylinder head change from a Monster

Morning,
Asking for help for a friend who lives in the Czech republic. Unfortunately his original 900ss developed a main bearing problem and was scrap. He purchased a replacement engine from Italy but did not realise that it was from a Monster with no drive on the front head for the tacho.
He still has the head from the original engine and is wondering how difficult it is to swap the two over so he can have a working rev counter.
Secondly are there any extra parts he will need to purchase before attempting this.

Any help appreciated.

Direct swap. He would probably want to do this anyway as many of the M900 heads had 750 sized valves and cams. He should swap the front and rear heads so they match.

There are a few O-rings between the heads and cylinders I would recommend replacing during the change over

It’s the V2 heads you want from a M900 for big valves with the hardened valve seats. V1 are older than Monsters (Pre ‘93) and have the big valves but softer valve seats.

V2 were fitted as standard on M900 from ‘93 till ‘96/‘97 then came back with the M900S and Sie.

The 900SS stayed with V2 heads.

The 750 style heads are marked with a W on the casting and do effect the power output.
