For those that are interested in shear lunacy, read on.
The 1962 race bike is still progressing. A very Zen thing. I've cut down the vibration by putting angular contact bearings on the crank and cam shaft and the foot peg is no longer 4 wide at max rpm. Which at 13800 was uncomfortable to say the least. Now it's only 2 wide. I did adjust the intake port glued area to knock off some rpm for now. Need to trade off some power for engine life.
The new issue is fuel. Just to make things interesting it's rich below 8k and lean above that. With a window of about 1000 rpm around 13:1 air fuel. I've had to go old school and build a new slide, and there is only one needle available these day for the SS1 35. So it's stick it in the drill and emery cloth time. The slide gets a file job on the cut away. The ultimate in analog mapping. 😁 It's the same stuff, just replacing a key board and screen with a file and emery cloth. The down side is you can only tune in one direction, muff it and the slide and needle are bin material. I have a new appreciation for the old racers and tuners now.

Ok, anolog mapping. The idea is to get a reference. The fat needle is running at 18-20:1 air fuel. Target is 12-13:1. The thin needle with luck will be way rich. Stick on dyno, get reading. And turn fat needle into correct taper. Only one size needle available so I don't have much choice.

The single race head. That there be Ti valve, modestar 90 guides and seats and MBP collets that go up and down near 7000 times a minute. My new way of checking shim clearance is to look down the port with valve closed, but my finger on the top rocker. You see a little ring of light. Let finger go, it go dark. No springs.

Turn T15 530 into T15 520. I highly recommend doing this for fun factor. You cut with a ceramic tip hot. Lots of thin streams of flaming swarf zinging around. Cuts like a hot knife through butter.
