Camshaft belts

Anyone used California Cycleworks belts? What about cross referencing with an automotive supplier like Gates? Part numbers? Pros and cons?

I have not used them and won't. Chris did all sorts of tests when he got them and they tested just fine. But like most things from China,,,,I wonder if the second container of them are as good??

Ok, thanks, I didn't know they were Chinese belts. I've always been an OEM guy when it comes to timing belts/water pumps/tensioner jobs but I figured I'd ask and see what Ducati owners thought. I'm not willing to risk my engine to save $200 bucks though.

My thoughts exactly! Not worth taking the risk. I just know from experience that the Chinese will cut corners anywhere they can, when they can. It's like all the Chinese hydraulic/pneumatic stuff, cheap O-rings that only last a few months, all to save about one cent!!

I bought a set for my 748sp, put them on and turned the engine over a few times by hand and noticed the one belt would not track properly.
Put on a set of oem belts all good.
I don't understand why or how?
I will stick with oem

Ya, It's sort of like buying chinese climbing gear.
It only has to fail once.

i've sold 4,000 pairs since 2010.

one broke due to a valve head coming off and stopping the cam. another (that i fitted) broke when the bike went home (different state) and the owner took a long time to show me what happened then stopped so i didn't see exactly what or help fix it.

not heard of any other issues. some tell me that the belts (1100 maybe) slacken a lot after fitment, but i wonder how some people fit them. i've not seen that sort of issue with how i do it.
