I read somewhere about this machine, that they had to use so much torque on the head studs that occasionally they would warp a barrel. Really on the edge stuff.

As I think I understand it, the one in the Aynsley photos could now referred to as the 1987 bike, due to having been (re)built for the 1987 season. Pinning down Reno's bikes is difficult at best. It is suspected he likes it that way.
