Hello All ! I am currently in the process of getting a 91 U.S. model 851 Sport (Strada elsewhere I believe ) back on the road and am thoroughly enjoying the process . Thanks so much to the awesome people and information on this site . A quick question : I see many nice looking quarter turn billet fuel caps on many websites . Does anyone have one on their bike ? It seems to me that they do not have any type of venting like the O.E.M. fuel cap . Mine has two hoses , one for air pressure ( or is it vacuum ? ) and one to carry accumulated rainwater away from the filler opening . I like the looks of the new fuel caps , but worry about the possible performance liabilities of them . So far I have redone the fuel pump , hoses ( in tank and all connections ) , fuel filter , fuel injectors sent off to be professionally cleaned , timing belts . I still have brakes and lines , clutch and lines and a few other things to do , oil change and radiator flush with new hoses . And cleaning......lots of cleaning ! Thanks to all !

Did I do something wrong ?

maybe no one has any experience with them.
on the early 851 there was a vent tube that came out the bottom of the tank, no vent through the cap. i'm guessing most of them would be that way.
you might need to get inventive.

I have one on my 748 track bike and it works perfectly I have a 2nd one but have never used it. It does appear as though there is a built in vent. (two balls, springs, set screws)(don't know how it works!)

Mine has a non-vented cap with 3 hoses coming out the bottom of the tank. Fuel line going to and from the engine, and one for the tank vent.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE RESPONSES !! I think I will just keep it stock for now . I still have a lot of work to do to get my bike back in tip-top shape . Needing a few essentials and low on funds at the moment . I was hoping to attend a local ( St. Louis , Missouri ) Vintage Bike Night this Autumn , but maybe I will try for one next Spring ! Thanks Again !
