Hi All,
On my 1994 888 Strada, odo works, speedo doesn't. Can this be fixed, or do I need to replace the whole unit ? Speedo failed suddenly, worked yesterday, not today.
Thanks
John

Speedo cable snapped ????

An instrument technician should be able to repair your speedo. There is a guy in Sydney who does bike stuff. Should be someone in your neck of the woods though.

Ignore my stupid comment.........did not read the thread properly. Probably a gear inside has jumped or worn out. Easy to fix or buy another.

Thanks guys. I have asked Rudy if he has one, and also contacted a local instrument maker (ottoinstruments) to see if they can help.
Cheers,

Otto will fix it, he's good.

Thanks Griff, Otto hasn't responded to my email I send on Monday, so I'll call him.

It turns out the problem was the speedo drive, now on the hunt for a replacement.
I should have suspected that since the wheels had been off recently for new tyres, so I guess that tyre shop dropped the speedo drive, which is made from a very brittle plastic, I know this as I have smashed one myself in the past.
On the up side, the Michellin Power RS tyres I had fitted are fantastic, much more stable in corners !!

John

I'm not suprised Otto didn't return your call & would have been concerned if he had. He's been dead for nearly 20 years

😁 Queensland mate, old tradies just don't know when to lay down their tools. Hell he's even still go the phone on! What a legend!

Yeah I know it's just the name, I did speak to John Robertson a couple of weeks ago, seems like a nice guy, but we spent more time talking about Landrovers !!

Give Jason Baverstock a call at Manly Auto Instruments ( & have a look at his web page: very Ducati).
He had a great collection of bikes too...
