Scott-- have you looked closely at the 888 which Reed has for sale-- he knows his stuff and you can be sure it is spot on with tuning by the master Doug-- I would look again if you passed on it.

The 888 I had listed is owned by a friend of mine. Scott attempted to purchase it but my friend has turned into a total wing nut.
So I pulled the ad. I am no longer helping my friend sell the bike.

beware the 888 "SPS" that just came up on Ebay....At first I was very excited to see it and know more, upon inspection of the pictures, it is a very tired bike and the seller claims it has only 3500 miles. NOW, you can see that the tach and the temp gauge are really faded, yet the speedo is a much brighter orange. I am only pointing to facts, and all are free to make their own decision, but suffice to say, I am no longer excited about knowing more about this bike. 🙁🙁😳🙁 And the SPS plaque in oddly missing.....😯

totally agree it is real... AND very rare, hence my interest...BUT if that bike has 3k miles on it I also hope to be Rosie O'Donnell's next husband. I would love to find a bike like that, and pay what it is worth, but when I feel something is wrong....I just walk.😏

I did not say it was not real. It most certainly is real. My worry lies somewhere else. If you care to explain why the gauge needles are dissimilar in color due to what should be universal fading, I would love the hear the reason. And why does just the speedo have less fading with such low miles? hmmm What happened to the plaque? Who in their right mind would remove that! And please let me know how a radiator gets to look like yours with only 3500 miles on it? Especially with track miles. You own a piece of history, and it has real value, but you cannot honestly believe it has 3500 miles on it. My '92 851 has 7x the milage yours does and looks new relative to yours. And as far as FTW....stay classy.

If you look at the thread below in the "Links to 851's and 888's For Sale" you can see that the seller had a buyer for the bike and was completing the transaction the other day.

I am not surprised, even though it was a little tired looking, it looked like a real 888 SPS and was a killer deal at the asking price. Ducati never imported and 888 SPS into the USA and if it had a valid California street title then it was a true Unicorn.

I am not a collector.
I would like to have a nice 888 to enjoy and ride on the week-ends.
Mods are ok as long as the bike hasn't been butchered. A good exhaust is actually preferred.
