Chain hits the tyre

The chain of my '92 851 is very close to the tyre(Pirelli 180-55), less then 1mm and already has cut some rubber.
What's the normal space between chain-tyre?
The magnesium wheels were switched for normal black ones before the sale, apparently there's a difference in sprocket carriers, but what?
The Pirelli tyre is wider than the 180 Bridgestone on my Beemer, but I guess more people use Pirelli's.
Any other suggestions?
I have no doubt that the wheel isn't in line, but will check again.

My money's on the wheel being out of line.
Check to see if the spacer on the sprocket carrier has been put in the correct way around.

I'm looking at the exploded view in the manuel, but that doesn't show wich way is what.

Check the locking plate on the front sprocket has not worn out. This allows the sprocket to move inboard which in turn causes the chain to rub the tyre. Although still bolted to the sprocket it still moves as the splines wear out.

Get yourself a sharp one of these, adjust it for a light even cut, hold it up against the very left side of the tire with your left hand and rotate the tire against it with your right hand. You can easily trim down that wide edge that could rub the chain. We had to do that on the Pantah TT race bike.

Flat side out, toward swing arm. I measure from swing arm pivot points to axle on each side to make sure wheel is square to swing arm.

Have not checked yet, the bump has to point to the gearbox(?).

I removed the sprocket today, should't there be a ring behind the sprocket? Looks like it in the parts manual..

That's the shim or shims on the end of the output shaft, it/they're inside the cases.

I've just installed a new sprocket clip and that makes a load of difference.
