I've backed the preload almost completely off and the compression damping off. Still get 'jack hammered' in the saddle on a bumpy road. Has anyone had this? Could the bike have had a hard spring put on it? Did they (Showa springs) come with opptional spring rates back then?😳
Mr.R
The Showa springs are a bit on the heavy side for solo riding, the Strada's fitted with them were all duel seat models.
The Ohlins on the SP models were almost as bad and they're intended for solo use.
I got hold of softer springs from both Maxton and K-Tech in the UK.

Have you checked the rebound damping? Too much rebound damping will cause the back end to "pack": after hitting a bump the slow rebound won't allow the shock to recover before the next bump, so it just sits lower...and lower...and lower, until it has no suspension travel left and feels rock hard.

backing everything off may be the wrong approach too. i've seen the other way work, so it's worth playing. as above, if it has too much rebound that'll screw it too.
