Very very early 851 Frame

Just picked up another edition to the collection and noticed the chassis number is a very very early number ZDM851S3000046 , numbers have been stamped poorly. It has the 4 fixing plate for the front fairing bracket and what looks like a number of tubes for the cooling just in front of the airbox as part of the frame ???. Never seen that before but I,m sure someone will shed some light on it. Photos will follow of the frame when I can get time to take off the tank. Front 4 fixing plate on the headstock looks the same as this one.

What you described is a 851 kit frame.
But the number S3*000xxx* and the fact that it's stamped could be possibly due to using it as a spare/replacement frame.

Strada 88 were engraved ZDM851S1*850xxx* and kit ZDM851S*850xxx* (as for a '89 Lucchinelli Replica Racing).

Yes the previous owner mentioned something about a replacement frame. Photos to follow at the weekend.

Here are some photos. There is a tube with inlets and outlets(?) that starts at the front RH that runs diagonally under the airbox and exits under the airbox on the LH side.

Never seen this before.

As best I can research, the "wet" diagonal frame tube was a carryover from the frame designed for the 1986 748 racer, and lasted thru the 1988 Tricolor Kit. Not sure if that diagonal tube still carried coolant in the 1988 Tricolor Strada frame, which changed to the two bolt front sub-frame mount.

You're right, I forget that the strada 88 didn't have the cooling crossing bar.
I mentionned the strada only for the designation, because the square plate at the front is caracteristic of the kit frame, so no doubt about its origin.
This frame is used again in 1989 on the first customer race bike (Lucchi rep.)

my Strada has coolant in the frame tube mentioned.
I understood the only differences between Strada and Kit frames were the fairing mounts ?
