Replacement regulator/rectifier?

I need to replace the regulator/rectifier on my 851 (1989 Strada) and am not sure which is currently the best option to buy - any advice?

I realised the battery acid looked low and when I checked I found that the regulator had failed and was allowing over 16V to the battery - could this have been enough to upset the ECU and cause running problems?

They are solid, and support the charge warning light on the dash.

For an OEM replacement try the Shindegan 996Bip part, it's a two wire unit as was the unit on your bike. Doesn't quite fit on the original bolt spacings though so a plate will need to be made. You also lose out on the charge light.

Thanks for the replies and the useful links. The Endurolast sounds like a good unit but I will probably go with the Shindengen as they are available in the UK - I am not sure that the warning light is much use anyway as I have never managed more than a few miles after mine has come on before the bike died anyway.

😁 What did you think it was supposed to do. It's a warning light.
There are other Shing ding ding dongs that suit. I forget the model number but it slots right in.

Fair comment but it is a warning light that you can only spot if it is dark and considering how poor the headlight is I usually try to avoid doing this if I can - anyway the cynics would say that there is no point in taking a Ducati out in the dark where no-one can see it!

All I know for sure is that seeing the warning light come on has never saved me from having to get the mobile out and call the recovery service.
