the straps i've got are not bend like the one's on your picture.
so i'll find some original straps or have an extra bracket welded on.
anyone has a pair of straps lying around?
If you are installing Corse style mufflers on a street bike using a variation of the bent bracket like Stig showed you is the best approach. It was used on the 888 Corse's which have the same clearance issues as your street '92 because of the use of the big crankcase breather box which closed off the bottom of the rear subframe. With a closed out bottom using welded on attachment points to attach the flat support brackets was not a good solution.
To give you a clear idea of how the flat (some carbon ones were dog bone in shape) brackets were fitted you get to read this boring description of the two pictures--- or not.
The flat carbon brackets. These were made to work easily with the mid '90-'92 Factory Works rear subframe which have open space under the sub-frame.
The factory Works bikes had a unique rear subframe with threaded spools welded to the bottom tubes so you could attach the flat bracket from the sub-frame to the muffler tips. Most of the Customer Racing bikes came with the stock SP2 street rear aluminum sub-frame without those special spools-- so most team used a simple clamp around the tube of the sub-frame. My '91 Customer Racing has the Works subframe-- just shows that if you were friends with the factory you could get many of the trick parts the Works bikes were sporting.
