Hi.
Thought I would post a hello as I'm new.
Had a Strada a few years ago which I sold due to lack of use. That was a mistake and part of the reason I'm back looking in the world the 8 series.
I've managed to get a bit of money together and it's a bit of a bucket list thing but I fancy either an sp4 or 5 or an rc30.
I think I prefer the SP bikes but a little worried about reliability over the Honda. Don't know why as my Strada never missed a beat.
So there you go. A hello and give us your thoughts.

Old bikes are old bikes, unless a certifiable refresh has just been done there are no guarantees on reliability, as least with the SP range parts are still around whereas a recent rebuild on an RC30 was tricky trying to find a fuel tap that worked via the vacuum feed. The tap cost around 160 quid and that was only just recoverable.
Welcome and good luck on your search.

I think you will find if the services have been done there are no problems with reliability. On any 888
make sure the battery is tip top and not a cheap jobby, otherwise you will wave goodbye to your sprag starter gear. ( don't ask me how.. I know and it still hurts ) I put in a Shorai it cost a fortune and weighs nothing, starts first push. I am chicken so I don't do my own valves mine purrs like a gooden pulls though the revs like no other its a sports bike with a civilised easy ride. Having just restored an old Honda I can tell you parts aren't cheap on those either.
