Hi All - Quite a few years ago I had a Ducati 888 Strada and loved every minute of it - regretted selling it but needs must at the time. I've had an Aprilia SL1000 Falco sat in my garage for a few years but haven't used it much but now my Sons have both both bikes I thought I would try and get back into riding.
I came across an 851 locally which had been off the road for 10 years so thought it would be a great project as so few of them around now and bought it at the beginning of October. Since then I have changed the oil and filter, new fuel and filter and replaced the belts Next job is to sort out the front forks as one seal is leaking very slightly and replace the 10 year old tyres.
When i got the bike it came with both a single and dual seat but I wanted it stock so put the dual seat panels back on - then realised I preferred the single seat unit and replaced it again! I am by no means an expert with regards to Ducati's - I just know what I like - but I would be interested in any comments regarding the specification of this bike - it's registered in 1992 but no idea if it's stock or not. Obviously the Microns are non-standard but I haven't been able to open up the computer yet to see what chip is in there as one of the little screws holding the lid on has rounded.
Anyway I've hopefully uploaded a couple of pictures and hope to get out on it next year when the weather improves. I'm up in North Lincolnshire - there seem to be quite a few 851/888 owners in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire!
