Rear disc

Does anybody know where you can get a full floating rear disc for a 888?

It has to be 245mm and 6 hole fixing.I do NOT want a wavey!!something like this:

I made my own out of a stock disc. At one point I bought a braketech full floater and just copied how it was made. Basically I turned some stepped bushings out of stainless that were just a tiny bit thicker than the disc, bored the holes in the disc out to match, used longer bolts with a flat washer. Didn't take all that long and works just as good as the braketech.
I did modify the system a bit as braketech just used straight bushings and a washer which allows the disc to wear on the hub. The rim on my bushings was only about .75mm thick which placed the disc out that amount so I placed equivalent thickness washers under my brake caliper so everything lined up.

First pic is of the stepped bushings that I made, flange to keep the rotor from wearing on the carrier., 2nd is in the rotor backside with 3 bushings in place,3rd is half of them assembled. 4th is the braketec bushings. These bushings are .5mm thicker than the brake disc to allow a bit of float. OD is 14mm, ID is8.18mm. Hope this helps.

Hi Griff,
I have a 1968 Southbend 16" x 56". Nice old lathe in great condition, has the "D" camlock headstock so it's easy to change the chuck. Also have a Royal 5C collet attachment with a complete set of collets from 1/64" to 1.125" which makes it nice for small stuff (not always bashing my knuckles on the chuck jaws!). Also have a Bridgeport mill and a 6"x 12" surface grinder (magnetic vice for grinding valve collets, gets them real close to where I want them).

It is a nice rotor! That's the one I bought from MotoWheels initially and copied.
My stock rotor always dragged. I could not "fix" it, even bought a new caliper thinking that it was hanging up. Not that it dragged all that much, just pissed me off! A friend that races always spreads his rear pads apart on his race bike so his doesn't drag, he never uses it anyway. Mine has never dragged since it has been floated.

That wheel looks "vintage" to me. And I am curious to see the rest of that bike. Any chance for one or two full shots from the side? Thanks.

Marvin,excellent job & write up describing the the buttons & bushings,most important the wear factor is critical ,especially with our Magnesium wheels,I meet Jeff Gehr in 2001,and had an idept discussion on almost all the rotors in the shop,the bottom line I came home with the PFM superbike kit which is on the SS and his full floating superlite rotor,with the same bushings you made..I think their covered up by the TI mushroom bolts,I see a shoukder though..hmmm.my next upgrade will be the 14mm Disccaciatti cnc rear master & maybe the mono block berringer rear caliper ,ive been sauiony it now for what 5 years...later..Dom

Hi Dom,
Thanks! I made the buttons when I still had the DyMags. Even with the alum. carrier of the Carrozzeria's it just doesn't seem right to have the disc "bangin'" on it.
