Parts and time zones

Just an observation

I am involved in another forum and I made a suggestion that is now adopted but not obligatory.

To be fair to all one can list a part/bike for sale and make it clear that once an offer is in the line will stay open for 24/48h

At the end of the period the sale can be made to either the highest bidder as we all want to get the best price or if there is more than one taker the names can be drawn out of a hat.

Its fair to all and yes it will no longer mean the early bird catches the worm but it will also mean all our different time zones will have a fair shot.

First come, first served. Most of these parts are in Europe but I'm in the US. Oh well, it's not the seller's responsibility to wait for me or anyone else. If a buyer has money ready and meets the seller's price it should be a done deal. We've experienced "tire-kickers", "dreamers", whatever you want to call them, people who don't actually have the money or back out of a purchase. Plus, some sellers don't want to wait 24/48 hrs and then wait some more until the buyer makes payment...and they shouldn't have to.

If someone wants to run an auction, they know where to go.

I also think it's a bit silly to say "look at all the people who wanted this stuff" when no prices were posted. there's a good chance that some of those "buyers" might have had a bit of sticker shock if they knew what the parts actually cost.

Finally, if you're looking for something specific, you can make a "Wanted" post.
