Correct exhaust SP 3

Anybody know what the correct exhaust markings for a standard exhaust on a SP 3??

Alloy, one side is as rare as hens teeth.

I have one brand new original that I will sell you. Cant remember which side but unfortunately its not the one that's hard to find.

As 900SL says, A being the right hand can and B the left. FWIW mine have the Cagiva "Elephant" next to the part number, and when got the bike several years ago there were two what I assume to be "decibel killers" in a box of bits that came with the bike. Needless to say these were not, and have not been, fitted! They appear to need spot welding in place in contrast to the bolt-in items on my 1198S.

I believe that the DB killers were the reverse of what you received. Depending on the market that the bike was sold in they came tack welded in place and required some grinding to remove. My USA delivered SP3 has areas on the inside of the tips where you can see where the welds were ground down.

You may well both be correct. All I meant to say was that when I bought the bike several years ago from the (effectively) original owner, the dB killers were not fitted to the bike but were in a box of bits I got with it. And that I had no intention of re-fitting them, sounds good as it is! I just had a look at the inside of the cans and I can't see any evidence of them having been fitted, but if the insides were carefully ground down (and from what I know of the last owner, it would have been done properly, he was a bit of a perfectionist) maybe I wouldn't see anything, especially after 24-odd years. BTW, the bike was supplied to the UK.

Are there any welding marks on the edges of the DB killers? That would confirm that they were installed in the mufflers and probably removed by the dealership before the bike was even delivered to the original owner, and then just saved all of these years.

Now that many racetracks have noise limits for track days, it is nice to have DB killers that are easy to install just for the track day. Here in the USA Laguna Seca has very strict noise limits, but I would like to ride there some day, so having DB killers would be necessary.

I'm really not sure - they're in a box up in the attic and I haven't actually seen them for years! I'll dig them out and have a look.

You're right about noise limits. I haven't ridden on a track for a few years now but I have friends who do, and they're tightening up all round. I put it down to people moving from towns into the countryside and not realising all that goes on there (NIMBY syndrome)... I understand the Panigale is one of the harder bikes to get through the noise test!

SP3 Exhausts

Hi Guys,
Besides looks what difference stock ones to carbon ones.
I have #419 with carbons, these Im led to believe are Termis,but the cans have no Termi markings on them is this right.
I have a set of SIL high rise ones in the attic which one day I may try out.
I currently have mine on show as a Falappa Rep Bike.

I can't help with the questions, but that's my 851 tucked in behind your bike.
I'm off to the ManX this year, but I'll be on my old Bevel SS.
