hi,
i live in quebec, canada, plates for sport bikes here are very expensive $1300 per year, BUT plates for regular bikes ( monster and st4) are $530.
so my plan is to find a superbike (witch are selling cheap because of this ) like a 748 and using a frame from a non sport bike to graft the parts on it.
so.... my question is, will parts from a 748 fit on a st4?
better yet will a 999 fit on any non superbike model frame
thanks in advance for your help

Lots of interchangeability. The ST4 as it comes is no slouch (916). A 996 engine will fit in it. ST4S is already a 996. Monster S4RS is already a 998 Testastretta engine. The S4R is already a 996. 748 is the slowest of the bunch IMHO. I have friends who can have any bike they want here in the US and they prefer the ST2,4, ST4S

thanks marvin,
the thing is i want a supersport, but dont want to pay for supersport plates, so if a monster frame could accept all 916 hardware i would have a 916 but pay for monster plates. i have a aprilia futura so i'm all set as sport touring goes. i want a ducati that i could use as track day bike. i had a 916 and a 748 track bike a few years back, looking to get back into that and use it on the road also

It would not be to hard to fit 851/888 or 748/916/996 body work on a st4S.
Inlet cams is the only difference between the 996 and the st4s engine (and bassa heads wich have none or little effect on the power).
The st range frames are quite close to the 851/888 frames.
ST4s already have good brakes, Ohlins rear shock and top of the line Showa fork, 5 spoke wheels, etc.

the sport bike frames and engine cases are unique due to swingarm location and mounting. in terms of straight swap, 748 to monster s4 or st4, parts that are the same would be:
front wheel
speedo/tacho - st4
ecu - st4
battery depending on year
some engine bottom end internals
switch blocks
master cylinders
grips
probably a few more things, not much.
you're going to be spending a lot of money to save some.
