Nice one guys. Just when there was a faint glimer of hope for the world you had to have an attack of independance.
Its either an amazingly brutal political move by Boris Johnson to become PM, or drastic attempt to make the commonwealth a more powerful entity on the world stage. 😄 (Never going to happen). In any case well done, you just made our place one of the most stable and attractive havens for investment on the globe. Which is great as the mining boom has ended and there didnt seem to be any new income prospects on the horizon.
Plus you can be buddies with your old mates the Russians again and maybe get some of those stolen bikes back.😄
Mr.R
I make a point of not talking politics on motorcycle forums, it causes too many arguments IMO.
However I will point out that the vote Griff's mentioned went 52% to leave and 48% to stay, so close to half of those who voted (and it was a pretty high turn out for UK voting, around 76%) don't agree with the result.

I am not in to politics myself at all.
But i really wonder if this is a begin of things to come.
And i ask myself the question if that was such a clever thing to do the brexit?
But you guys who live in th UK will know that.
Hope it turn out good.but only time will tell.
I also saw that some politicians now allready say that they can not promise that the things they said in there campagne are goiing to happen.
Henk!!!

Has that EVER happened anywhere, anytime anyway!!?

What the mining boom has finished ? What about lithium and uranium here in WA ? Canberra will open its pockets and take the royalties, and leave West Australia with the issues of disposing of enriched uranium, with an infrastructure far behind the rest of Australia, that is world embarrassing. Believe me I live on the Great Northern Highway, the township I live in shuts down every time a Dump truck or an Excavator gets moved up North ( Where most of the mining industry is ). To those outside of this great country, these pieces of mining equipment are huge, taking 3 to 6 road trains to move them. Imagine a 70 tonne bucket, dipper arm, lift arm, 2 tracks and a mainframe and cab, from a big excavator....... travelling in convoy...... if you are interested in heavy haulage it has to be seen. Brexit GREAT, my mum has got the Union jack on her gate. She still will not go down Frodingham Road in Scunthorpe, where most of the shop windows have signs " No English ". Discriminatory or what, BUT there is that glimmer of hope...... She might live her days on a non diminishing state pension.
duck2
Does the sign "no English" actually mean no English welcome?OR is it a attempt by a non speaking hard working shop owner who hasn't got any English language skills letting people know of his situation ?
Mr.R
In the last centuary it wasn't uncommon for places in England to have signs saying....
No Irish, No Blacks and No Dogs.
My Mothers family settled in East London from Ireland during the Potato Famine in the 1860's.
I'd hoped that we'd seen the last of this sort of thing, but now I'm very sad to say the Polish are being targeted by some Brexit types as they (the Poles) are the largest group of recent immigrants from the EU.

😁 Its Australia. Everything gets taken to extremes. You have to take a stab in the dark a lot of the time. The township of Woodenbong is a fine example.
Ducal old mate, hate to tell you this, but the rest of the world digs bloody great holes with stonking big toys as well. Them things are either European or American made.
As for WA, suck eggs baby. Oh yes while the boom was on you guys wanted WAxit, why should you pay tax to the rest of the country etc. China ran out of puff, and now your broke and cant afford the juice for all the jet ski's. Cashed up bogans with high powered utes and plasma TV's was one newspaper quote.
As for the spent uranium, money in the bank. Not only to you get paid for storage, but the next generation of nuke plants will buy it back of you guys. Our American boffin mates are on to it right now. Ref some chick at Caltech. All you have to do is not build houses on top of it or eat the shit. Man we give you guys great deals and you bitch about it.
Far be it for me to state the obvious, but for some reason the ratio of people in Europe to the UK is about 11.5 to one. The ratio of Sand gropers to the rest of us is about 11 to 1. What more can i say. The similarities speak for them selves. UK, your about to become a radio active waste dump for Europe once the financial sector relocates. Lucky folk.

I see it as a buying opportunity, both from a stock market option to Ducati parts option. LOL Quit your bitching, it's in the past now deal with it! I lost $50k in one fucking day!!!! I should be the one bitching!

Oh well at least the rugby went well.
Mr.R
Yes the rugby results were great but the least said about the football the better chap...😏
On the Breixt front...
Today I'm ordering some valve shims from EMS in the States for my 900SS Bevel rebuild...
...and the cost to me after the exit vote has just gone up by around 20%, thanks to the fall in the value of the £ and of course the nice people who voted for this debacle.

Ah yes Steve, but on the other hand, now dealing with Nigel Lacey is way cheaper for us. In fact so cheap that R&R is just not worth it. So if there is enough volume, Nigel may keep the Kingdom of Wales and England afloat. As long as Nigel doesnt have to buy from Europe. Man those guys are pissed at you lot. Even Jamie Oliver got the boot from Italy. Rue Britania... what was the rest of that?
Mr.R
Yes Griff that's true but Nigel phoned me yesterday (to talk about something) and he's still booked up for engine builds well past the end of next year and beyond.
Perhaps you can help me with this?
I'm looking for offset woodruff keys for Bevel twin cams, they'd be a lot easier to use than counting all those teeth back and forth* to set up the NOS (from my personal stash) Imola race cams.
Steve Wynne had three keyways cut into the Hailwood bikes upper bevel gears, each a 1/3rd of a tooth different to help setting up the cams.
In the past I've made/filed up offset keys from larger keys, but it would be a lot easier if some are available.
*I spent all afternoon yesterday shimming up the upper bevel gears and centralising the cams on my latest pair of heads**, a very tedious, but interesting job and worth it to get them "spot on" with nill pinch or backlash.
**I've gone with 44m inlets (Modified wasted stem Guzzi Le Mans valves), 38mm exhausts ported to suit, lead free valve seats with very narrow sealing seats, shortened solidly mounted inlet stubs, rubber mounted 41mm race Delorto's carbs, twin plugs and a slightly modified combustion chambers (boat shaped fore and arft).
45mm headers on the duel tuned length pipes with 50mm exits after a reverse cone, no ballance pipe!
New Omega pistons (with thinner rings and 3 piece oil control rings) giving 10.5-1 comp' ratio, these have a nice small/almost smooth bump instead of a huge/sharp lump on the crowns that the old 12-1 Omega's had.
I've lowered the overall gearing and I'm expecting it to fly. 😎

Steve,
If you can provide me with some "thicker" keys I might be able to help you out on the Bridgeport. Are they straight keys or woodruff?
I just paid through the nose for a 4 degree key for my 944 Porsche and now realize I could have made one in about 15 minutes. The price of education I guess! It would take a bit of experimentation to come up with the right amount of offset for 4 degrees though.
Would there be any market for Bevel keys?
Marvin

38mm inlet port is pushing the envelope, what is the choke? If it goes it should be wicked. I was going to use woodruff keys, but decided on juggling as needed to do the single race engine that week also. So now i have a nice table of figures. It is for a square case i presume. It will take you 20min to do both. PM your email and i'll send it.
Backlashing very satisfing, just getting so you can ever so slightly feel rocking takes patients. My mate uses oil and watches for the oil just squish out, i reckon you get a better job with feel. If its going to live at high rpm remember to go a poofteeth bigger.
I hope changing the combustion chamber isnt going to throw things out of wack. Old mate Taglioni was no fool. Some amazingly clever shit is going on in a staight shot port. Its all about swirl. So you have to be careful with the charge velocity. Too much and the fuel will fall out and get stuck to the wall. Too little and VE drops off. I've tested principals on the single 250 and i have positive drive at 12000 with 33mm port 31 choke, 40 36 valves, with a 34 delorrto. Pitty it droped a valve at 11500 on the second race. (Used old valves, the snap under the microscope revealled fatigue and inertial mass at that rpm was too much for 40 year old standard inlet valve. Go figure. 😁 Getting Ti valves from Ferrea made as we speak. US$110 each. Bargin. Useing Trogen for guides and seats) The maths and cam data said drive from 75000 to max hp at 12200, but bevan dyno wasnt ready so i only have the rider and ignition data to confirm.
Trashed the omega, and the Combustion chamber is now getting filled in and recut.
Big end survived, but broke a closer. Poor little narrowcase, but it proved that i'm heading in the right direction. I have another head to test where i'm raising the inlet port 15°, which i subsequencly learnt was Taglionie's last trick before giving up. I calculate max torque at 10700 and Hp at 12800. Yes its the last generation of the 12.5mm lift factory cam i have in my possesion. Very similar to an emola cams figures.
My brief. Lets go to the TT and win. 😁
griff851
Marvin, if you make some for the right price, yes there is a market. Not a big market, but there seems to be a growth in interest in the bevels. And most guys dont realize how easy it is to juggle gears once you get the hang of it.
Mr.R
Hi Marvin and Griff,
Thanks for your kind and helpful offers of help.😎
Griff,
Please email me your guide to juggling the timing wheels, here's my email addy:-
demenace888@hotmail.co.uk
Marvin,
I might well get back to you on this, the keys are woodruff keys.
I'd much prefer to use offset keys as it keeps all the original timing marks, but needs must at the moment.
Today after a 2 week wait (I was getting worried and time's moving on) the post office slipped me a card saying that I need to pay £34.95 Import duty on my shims that have come from EMS....Bugger!!!!
I'd guessed that this was the cause of the delay, thank fuck for the Brexit vote...NOT!
The £ has dropped like a stone against the world's currencies and this is just the beginning.
Edit...Griff,
I've gone from 41mm at the carb's down to 38mm at the join to the heads and then out to 44mm at the seats on the inlets.
Armed with the knowledge that gas moves faster on the inside of the radius of the ports, I've gone wider at these points (like a soft "D" shape) and narrower on the outsides until the bowl, where I found I couldn't go any higher so went wider there to direct the incoming charge downwards.

i believe phil at road and race has offset keys for bevels, etc.
griff851
I think they're about $25 a pop. Thats GBP 3,000. Or is gone with the EU and back to my favourite £.3000. 😁
Nigels stuff is cheap hey. For £400 we got loads of goodies for the Lady of the Lake.
Mr.R
brad black wrotei believe phil at road and race has offset keys for bevels, etc.
Thanks for that Brad,
I've found them on his site but now have to work out how to order them????
I've bought kit from him before for my little 250 Desmo but that's been via Ebay.
There doesn't seem to be a link on his site when I try to click on the keys?
I'll have another go latter when I've finished shimming the heads this afternoon.
I'm down to rubbing down shims on my oilstone to get the endfloat correct on the rockers now, despite having a quite large sellection to play with...
